"All that glitters is not gold" is a phrase used in Colombia to indicate that appearances are not always reliable. In this work, I use paper to build these fictitious ingots, which are later covered in gold leaf. These materials—paper and gold leaf—are traditionally used in the decorative arts, the latter an activity often associated with the mass production of low-value objects. Here, gold is not gold, and what appears heavy and robust is actually light and fragile.
