In this piece from the Vestigios [Vestiges] series, a rosary is reconstructed using pills and medication, displacing an object of devotion to transform it into a vestige of various forms of care, dependence, and protection. By replacing traditional materials with medicine, the work brings into tension two belief systems—faith and science. Its physical fragility reveals what remains when an object loses its utilitarian function: the form, memory, and meanings we project onto that in which we place our hope of healing.
